Background

Background

The international community today faces not only wars and armed conflicts but also a wide range of challenges, including hatred, discrimination, and social division. In this context, the role and participation of women have become increasingly essential to advancing sustainable peace.

Peace is more than the absence of war. It is a value that is experienced and practiced in everyday life—in our families, schools, workplaces, and local communities. These everyday acts of peace collectively become the driving force for shaping the future of peace.

Guided by its vision, “Women and Girls Shaping the Future of Sustainable Peace,” the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) has carried out diverse initiatives to empower women as agents of peace through leadership development, peace education, and international cooperation. By fostering women’s participation and solidarity, IWPG continues to connect local communities with the international community while building a global platform to promote a culture of peace.
